spirited away studies [7/8/14]

DAY 13:
watch a movie or episode of a show that you find visually appealing. while watching draw thumbnails of shots that catch your eye and try to articulate why it’s visually appealing/why it works</sub>

letting loose my inner weeaboo trash with some spirited away doodles
-    the first one is probably one of the most famous scenes from the movie; the statue in the beginning (and later, the end), and i think it really stands out bc all the focus is on the one point in the image, with the figure you're supposed to be paying attention to against a dark doorway so it stands out a bit more
-    i did the second because i loved the scene, it's cute and the bizarre characters are a huge part of what makes the movie charming!! plus you can absolutely feel the awkward just emanating from the scene
-    both of the 'main' characters in brightly colored clothes against a flat-colored surface (even though it is also a bright color, the unchanging color works because it isn't distracting from the focus)
-    when noface gets big and scary, theres definitely a looming, dark sense that really overpowers chihiro when they are next to eachother. he's pitch black, and she's tiny and pink. this one was a bit complex because of all the characters in the background, making chihiro almost invisible if you didn't know the main character! =0
